Each month’s Student and Teacher of the Month T-shirts are characterized by a unique color. The color for January’s Student and Teacher of the Month T-shirts is blue, while February’s color is black.

On March 12th, we awarded a Student of the Month at Altadena Elementary. Jeffrey Romero received a certificate provided by FedEx Office, 2 free passes to Kidspace Museum, a free meal ticket at Islands and Souplantation, a free martial arts lesson from Two Dragons Martial Arts , a free visit to Under the Sea Indoor Playground, a free art lesson from KidsArt, a free item ticket from McDonald’s, a50% off coupon from Spaw, a bumper sticker, and a T-shirt.

On January 29th, we awarded a Student of the Month at Loma Alta Elementary. Principal Eric Sahakian selected Juan Zavala (3rd grade) as Loma Alta’s Student of the Month. Altadena Town Council Member Okorie Ezieme presented the award on Herbert Simmons’s behalf.

At Burbank Elementary that day, we also awarded Dominique Matthews (1st grade) as Burbank’s Student of the Month. On January 15th, 2010, we awarded a Student of the Month at Franklin Elementary. Principal Caroline Bermudez selected third grader Ilfonso de la Torre as Franklin’s Student of the Month for being a wonderful student who is consistently commended by his teachers.

I suggest you and others in the community link up with the Altadena Library as it provides the support to students that PUSD is seeking to cut back on. As a community resource it is wthout equal.
