This issue is hot right now. It sure looks like the ATC postponed the closed (read: SECRET) session in the hopes that people will forget about the issue by the time the ATC votes. We can’t forget about this important issue.

Herbert Simmons, you are a miracle of activation! While, in my research of, Altadena “Past,” I have discovered that Mr. Justin Chapman started an educational committee at the council in 2007. However, much to my surprise the committee has died. Why…would seem to be the operative question. By refocusing on this city’s need to recognize the value of teachers and students, you, Herbert, have reminded us that if this city, county, state and nation is to survive, it will be because we are all working towards a common goal of empowering ourselves, whether through, time, donation, or just waking up to our need to work together. Our micro world work of the city can lead to a macro world change in all levels of our government. I like the city councilman who thinks of improving this community one small act at a time.

It seems to me that the guilt or innocence of Mr. Simmons should be based on intent. As I see it there was no intent to misrepresent himself as representing the council. As soon as he found out the council’s position he returned the money and apologized for any misconception. Herbert is doing a great job and should not be removed as we have elected him and should have some say as to whether or not he should be removed.
