The council has no authority to do anything. If you want something done then contact Mike Antononvich’s office with calls for change.

Go to court and ask for change. When you are ignored, go to a higher court. Point out the corruption in court and demand term limits for the LA County Board of Supervisors.

Stick together. COMPLAIN OFTEN AND COMPLAIN LOUDLY.

http://antonovich.lacounty.gov | 500 West Temple Street, Room 869, Los Angeles, CA 90012 | Phone: (213) 974-5555 (213) 974-5555 | Fax: (213) 974-1010

In my observation,

They deliberately push problems into your neighborhood and the sheriff’s department is known for their false arrests, evidence tampering and jury tampering so it does not surprise me that Simmons has a record. They act like gang members and target people like Simmons.

Don't just look at the men, look at the women. They are the worse than the men! Complain about the sheriff’s department and the constant noise and harassment. Go up to Briggs and tell them that you are not going to take it when they harass you.

Carry video with you on your cell and tape them so you can post it on the internet and even when the commit crimes of perjury, you will still have proof.

The judges are corrupt. They are lawyers that take their hate out on certain types of people. How much money can you pay them to commit crimes? They take pay offs like everyone else.

The volunteers and retirees with too much time on their hands have the time and resources to mess with you.

They have done it for decades and those little old ladies and men in the area are the ones that created the problems that you continue to have today. They do not want change and they are not sweet and old.

Forget the Ghandi thing if you want change. However, you might want to get a lobotomy if you cannot ignore it.

And that is my opinion!

I concur with the comments by #6 above.....I have lived in Altadena for 41 years and never learned of the existence of the ATC until an issue reared its ugly head.......most of the ATC members are political wannabees that have their own interests at heart and that seems to be for Pasadena not Altadena....how can such a few sorry people carry such weight...Plus you never know what is going on because there is nothing in the paper and that is where I go for my information.....the election a year ago was a farce.....and I have chosen to disassociate myself from this group....maybe there should be an opposition group formed for the rest of us who use common sense and are sane!

The ATC is full of a bunch of drama kings and queens that should be removed from office. They have never served the people but only their own self-interests and ego trips: they approve anything and everything that will bring them financial enrichment. That is why they have approved every developer's proposal, from cell towers, to La Vina, to MonteCedro on the site of the old Scripps Home. Worse are the ATC community cheerleaders. All of us should get out from behind our computers and show the drama lovers and their cheerleaders what the people want.

The Altadena Town Council itself has the power to amend its bylaws to reflect that it follow the Brown Act. Therefore, please read the Brown Act if you have not done so already (http://caag.state.ca.us/publications/2003_Main_BrownAct.pdf), as well as the Superior Court judgment in 2005 regarding the Agua Dulce Town Council, which had a very similar case to the current situation facing the Altadena Town Council (http://www.vanguardnews.com/agua/ADTC/2005/050601judgement.htm). Please gather yourselves and as many neighbors as you can, and express yourselves at the next Town Council meeting during public comment. Be sure to fill out a public comment card so that you may speak. Ask why the Altadena Town Council only follows about 85% of a statute that creates transparency and fairness for all, as the City Councils in Pasadena and La Canada Flintridge do. Some Council members had no knowledge of the Brown Act, yet voted against considering it, instead of deferring the matter to a later date to be discussed. You must hold your elected representatives responsible. Without you, we cannot be elected.

What can we do as homeowners to push for Altadena to operate under the Brown Act?
Should it be put on a Ballot and have all residents vote for it? Do we call the office of Antonovich, Adam Schiff or Arnold.
I think to much power has been held for to long by a small select group.
Altadena belongs to all whom live here.

My husband and I watch the meeting without fail every month. But I confess I have never gone to a meeting.
I will.

The ATC has and will operate outside of its own by-laws as long as the citizens of Altadena continue to allow it. It is up to us to get rid of (once and for all) those that are so drunk with ego that they feel they can continue to operate with impunity. Many feel that the ATC has lost all of its credibility and should be disbanded..
I disagree. It just needs to be cleaned up. There are 3 or 4 people that need to go and we should start with Chairman Sund. He is really just a puppet of the last order. It would be easy to cause his departure if the body collective would step up, investigate his extracuricular activities and pass a fair judgement.
The above letters just scratch the surface of his failure to follow the rules.....
The ATC can be important, but not as long as it operates like some silly homeowners association...

Citizens and councilmembers should affirm their dedication to open democracy by joining one of the sunshine organizations. Calaware or CFAC come to mind.

Ancient Athens had problems withan oilgrachy for a time, and so it appears does Altadena. I began attending Council meetings after Herbert Simmons knocked on my door and introduced himself as my councilman. In a city of this size, this is truly an opportunity to be an active participant in real "democracy." To date, I have attended three meetings. I am disappointed that Mr. Sund appears to have chosen to be more ancient Athenian than modern Altadenaian! Yes, I would welcome a look into the ethical conduct of the inner workings of the city council, and yes, the Brown Act does apply to the Altadena City Council; although, at the second council meeting which I attended this fact was denied by several, and others had no knowledge of this act at all. I am offended that my councilman was excluded from meetings and information, because by denying him, Mr. Sund, is denying me and the citizens of census tract 4602. To deny information and training is to deny access and success. As Ben Franklin once said, " Democracy is yours, if you can keep it." I intend on keeping it, so let the investigation begin.
